Barbil: Police recovered the naked body of a woman who went missing July 18 from Karakhendara jungle under Barbil police limits of Keonjhar district Thursday.
The police identified her as a resident of Nalanda locality.
According to a source, the woman went missing July 18. Her family members launched a frantic search for her at every possible place but could not find her. Some local residents spotted the body lying naked in the jungle and informed the police.
The police reached the spot and informed her family members following which the identity of the deceased was confirmed. The body was later sent for postmortem.
Registering a case, the cops have launched an investigation.
According to local residents, the deceased might have been murdered by miscreants after assaulting her sexually.
However, the police said they would only reveal the cause of the death only after receiving the postmortem report.
