After reaching at the hospital, the family members called the doctor on duty to attend Jasmine. However, the doctor did not turn up fearing COVID-19 infection, alleged her family.

Without getting any medical assistance from doctors, Jasmine delivered a baby girl who died after her birth.

Jasmine’s mother Bhagyalata Mallick alleged, “The doctor asked to conduct COVID-19 test of my daughter as we are from a containment zone. Even after we produced the test reports, the doctor did not turn up to treat her. My daughter delivered a baby girl. However, baby died within 10-15 minutes of her birth due to lack of medical treatment.”

Neither the doctor nor the district health department has given any statement regarding the matter, sources added.
