Bhubaneswar: The door-to-door survey being conducted in the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) and Kataka Municipal Corporation (KMC) areas ahead of the upcoming municipal elections has been extended by 15 days, with the exercise now scheduled to conclude November 22.
The survey was originally scheduled to be completed by November 7. However, following requests from the authorities of both municipal corporations, the State Election Commission (SEC) approved the extension through an order issued Friday.
The Commission has directed the commissioners of BMC and KMC to ensure that the survey is completed accurately within the revised deadline. It has also emphasised the need for proper monitoring mechanisms and regular supervision to ensure the smooth conduct of the exercise.
The civic bodies have been instructed to closely monitor the progress of the survey and ensure that all necessary work is completed within the extended period. The extension is expected to provide additional time to the field-level teams to complete the exercise across the two municipal corporation areas. The SEC has, however, made it clear that there should be no further delay in completing the survey.
