Naktideul: A couple was brutally murdered while they were asleep at their home in Pandurishila village of Ghosharamal panchayat under Redhakhol police limits in Sambalpur district, late Saturday night. The deceased were identified as Abraham Kujur, 35, and his wife Kuanri Kujur, 30. According to police, Abraham along with his wife Kuanri and their three-year-old youngest daughter went to sleep inside their room after finishing dinner Saturday night.
Hearing their screams at around midnight, Abraham’s younger brother Surendra Kujur, who was sleeping in an adjacent room, woke up and found a person, with his face covered, running away. When he went inside the room he found Abrraham lying on the bed and Kuanri on the ground in pools of blood.
On Sunday, the Redhakhol police arrested Shiraka Karma, brother-in-law of Abraham and a resident of Budhipani village near Pandurishila, in connection with the murders. During interrogation, Shiraka allegedly told the police that he killed the couple who would shelter his wife whenever she left home after a fight with him. The police have seized the murder weapon and forwarded the accused to court.
