DPS, BJEMS surge into quarters

Bhubaneswar: Delhi Public School (DPS), spanked Venkateswar English Medium School 3-0 in their second and last Group-D match to cruise into the quarterfinals of the MCL Cup Inter-School football tournament at the Unit-VI Boys’ High School Ground here Tuesday. 

Rishav Parekh broke the deadlock as early as in the fifth minute with his super strike to earn a 1-0 lead for DPS. With an early lead DPS started attacking more frequently. Vishal Dev doubled the lead in the 29th minute with Somal Puhan completing the rout in the 38th minute to seal the game inside first half only.

However, Sai International School got walk-over in the second match of the day against Prabhujee English Medium School, who failed to turn up. Despite getting full three points through walk-over, Sai International missed the last-eight berth on goal difference in Group E. Buxi Jagabandhu English Medium School (BJEMS) went ahead into the next stage with four points from two games on goal difference.
