Many travel enthusiasts are now planning to pack their bags and visit some of the places in the state to take a break from their hectic schedule.
For the people who are keen to spend some time amid nature, Handibhanga falls, situated in the Mayurbhanj district could be a good option. Around 260 kms from the state capital, the falls, 16 kms from Baripada, is one of the most notable waterfalls in the state. The water drains down the hill from a height of 30 metres, creating a scenic beauty, which the travellers are bound to appreciate.
The waterfall is easily accessible by well-maintained roads. Most of the tourists prefer to hire cars to travel to this beautiful place.
The easiest way to visit the falls is via Palaspanga by car. Handibhanga waterfall can also be reached by road from Keonjhar, Baripada, Joda and Palaspanga.
There are other attractions for the tourists visiting the site. The Kichakeswari temple at Khiching near Baripada is one nearby spot, which could be visited during a visit to the falls. The temple is built entirely of chlorite slabs and is unique for its Kalinga style of architecture.
Deokund, a beautiful scenic spot, amidst green forests and the famous Simlipal National Park nearby are other attractions that could be visited.
People who have been to the place want to visit the fall again. “I visited the place last year around June second week. The scenic beauty carved out by the nature is breathtaking.
“One should at least visit the site once to get relief from stress. I am keen to visit the place again with my friends when I will get some time,” said Aditya Das, an IT professional from the city.
