Muniguda: After a three-hour long operation, police with the help of fire personnel rescued the driver of an iron-laden truck who was trapped inside the mangled remains of the vehicle after it overturned. The operation was carried out near Badigaon bridge on Bissamcuttack- Therubali road in Rayagada district Sunday.
According to a source, the truck was coming from Raipur and as the driver was negotiating a curve near Badigaon bridge, he lost his control of the vehicle leading to the mishap. The helper of the truck managed to escape, however, the driver got trapped inside the vehicle.
Local residents immediately informed the police and fire department. Soon a team from Bissamcuttack police station and fire personnel reached the spot and launched a rescue operation.
The operation to rescue the already injured driver was carried out very carefully. Both the police and the firefighters took utmost care not to aggravate the injuries of the already-hurt driver. Eventually the driver was brought out from under the overturned truck and rushed to the Bissamcuttack community health centre (CHC) where his condition is stated to be stable.
The members of the rescue team were applauded for their well-coordinated operation as a slight mistake could have proved fatal to the driver.
