Nuapada: A drone was deployed Saturday to deliver a disability pension to a beneficiary in Bhutkapada village in Nuapada district. Officials decided to use a drone to send the pension amount to Hetaram Satanami, a ‘divyang’, who was finding it extremely difficult to walk two kilometres to the panchayat office every month to collect the money. Keeping in mind, Hetaram’s problem, sarpanch Saroj Agarwal decided to send the money to the beneficiary by using a drone.
A visibly-elated Hetaram received the pension from the device while the villagers witnessed the incident with awe. “Hetaram is a ‘divyang’, it is difficult for him to come to the panchayat office. When I came to know about his predicament, I decided to send the money to him by using a drone. I am happy that he has received the money without any inconvenience,” Agarwal said.
