Malkangiri, Oct 9: A drunken tribal woman assaulted her two children with a wooden plank leaving one of them dead and the other battling for life. Soon after this, the woman’s husband beat her to death over the incident.
The tragic incident took place Sunday in Godiput village under Malkangiri police limits.
According to reports, a drunken Bati Khara (30) attacked her daughter Anjali (6) and son Arjun (3) under the influence of alcohol over a trivial issue. Anjali died on the spot while locals rushed Arjun to Pandripani community health centre in critical condition.
Meanwhile, Bati’s husband Laxman Khara (35) returned home and came to know about the incident. Blinded in anger, he picked up the same wooden plank and hit Bati’s head while the latter was washing dishes. She died on the spot.
On being alerted, a police team led by Malkangiri IIC Ranjan Kumar Sahoo reached the spot and sent the bodies for post-mortem.
Laxman has been arrested and a case registered, IIC Sahoo said. PNN
