Cuttack, August 26: Nakul Jamula, Shreyas, Ayan Mustaque, Arka Jyoti, Ankur Biswal, Dwarikanath Swain, Aush Das and M Lokeswar Naidu entered the quarterfinals of the Cadet Boys’ singles after winning their league matches in the Inter-School Table Tennis Championships, which was inaugurated at the Sachin Tendulkar Indoor Hall, Barabati Stadium here Friday.
In the Cadet Girls’ Group, Sania Mishra, Sushree Patnaik and Swetapadma Dalai won their respective matches to enter the round of eight.
A record number of 265 players from various districts of the state are participating in the championships. Ten events will be played in the four-day tournament.
Chess tourney
Bhubaneswar Chess Association (BCA) will organise the IXth Sundeep Mohanty Memorial Open Chess Championship at the Secretariat Recreation Club in Bhubaneswar, September 4-6. The tournament will be played under four categories and carries cash awards of Rs 18,450.
