Jharsuguda: In a brutal crime, an eatery owner was stoned to death by some miscreants early Saturday morning.
The police recovered the body of the deceased from his highway outlet along NH-49 in this district.
The deceased has been identified as Rajesh Sahu, owner of the Babudera Dhaba near Kanaktora under Lakhanpur block of the district.
According to reports, his wife, who had carried breakfast for him spotted his body lying in a pool of blood inside the eatery and informed the police.
“Rajesh had slept in his dhaba last night. When his wife came to give him breakfast this morning, she found the door locked from outside. She later broke open the door and found Rajesh lying in a pool of blood on the floor,” said a local.
Prima facie evidence suggested that Rajesh was stoned to death, informed the police team that rushed to the spot after receiving information about the incident.
“The body has been sent for post-mortem. We have begun an investigation into the incident. The accused will be nabbed soon,” said a police official.
