Bhubaneswar, Jan 3: Innovative plans to make their institutions technically advanced will be in focus at a meeting here January 7 of the principals of government engineering and polytechnic colleges across the state.
The principals have been asked to make a power point presentation regarding the vision and mission of their institutions at the meet that is aimed at making technical education more transparent.
The conference will throw light on issues regarding the quality education, evaluation and curriculum. The principals will also discuss the centres of excellence proposed to be set up at a few institutions in the state.
The engineering colleges will also consider introduction of short-term job-oriented programmes to boost the employability and entrepreneurship skills of the students, as well as the establishment of a career counseling centre.
Other issues on the agenda include intensifying partnerships with various industries across and outside the state. The institutes aim to set up hi-tech laboratories by tying up with corporate giants such as the Tatas and L&T.
The principals will also discuss the feasibility of setting up smart classrooms with audio visual facilities along with an e-resource centre for providing various digital-mode library services to the students.
The conference will also include a presentation on special coaching classes in English and other subjects to prepare the students for competitive examinations and interviews.
