Binjharpur: A septuagenarian couple sought the help of Binjharpur police after they were beaten up by their son over a family dispute at Bitana village under this police limits in Jajpur district.
Although the incident occurred a week back, a complaint was lodged Saturday. Earlier, the couple had lodged a complaint with the local Alkund outpost. However, the outpost police allegedly made fun of them and sent them back home. Disappointed with the behavior of the police, they returned home only to be assaulted by their son once again. Later, they approached Binjharpur police and lodged a complaint again.
According to sources, Manguli Mallick (75) and his wife Kamini Mallick, the complainants, had a tiff with their son Prahalad Mallick over a land dispute. Prahalad often tortured them and scolded them using filthy language.
A week back, the father-son duo broke into an altercation over the same issue after which Prahalad began assaulting his father. When his mother intervened and asked him not to behave rudely with his father, he got infuriated and beat up the elderly woman with a stick.
The woman sustained critical injuries and was left bed-ridden. Frustrated, the couple approached Alakund police outpost and lodged a complaint. Instead of taking action against the accused, the police officials reportedly made light of the case and sent them away.
“More than the assault of our son, we felt shocked by the behavior of the police,” the couple alleged. With no options left, the couple approached the Binjharpur police and lodged a complaint once again.
“Justice shall be provided to the couple and action will be taken against the youth,” Binjharpur IIC Suchitra Birjya Das said.
