Kuanrmunda: An elderly man was allegedly beaten with an iron pipe and later strangled to death by his son and daughter-in-law at Jagadishpur village under the police outpost of Biramitrapur police limits in Sundaragada district, police said Wednesday.
The incident took place Tuesday night but came to light Wednesday morning, when police were informed about the death.
The deceased was identified as Panaka Ekka, 60. His son, Lajo Ekka, 37, and daughter-in-law, Basanti Ekka, 40, have been arrested in connection with the alleged murder.
Biramitrapur police station inspector Ram Prasad Nag reached Jagadishpur after being informed about the incident and found Ekka’s body at the spot.
Police said the iron pipe allegedly used in the attack had not yet been recovered.
A murder case (394/26) has been registered at Biramitrapur police station and an investigation is underway.
The body will be sent for postmortem Thursday, police said.
