Kabisuryanagar: A 72-year-old man was killed by his minor neighbour with a sword at Patharapalli village under Kabisuryanagar police limits in Ganjam district Saturday. The deceased was identified as Krushnachandra Mohanty.
According to reports, a neighbour’s domesticated mongoose entered Mohanty’s house Friday and ate chicken curry. Mohanty complained to his neighbour and asked him to keep the animal restrained. However, around 7am Saturday, the mongoose again entered Mohanty’s home. When Mohanty struck the ground with a stick to drive it away but it accidentally hit the animal, killing it.
Enraged over the incident, a 15-year-old boy from the mongoose owner’s family allegedly confronted Mohanty and struck him on the head with a sword. Mohanty sustained critical injuries and was taken to the Kabisuryanagar CHC, where doctors pronounced him dead.
