Bhubaneswar Dec 20: Immaculate oil paintings by students of Utkal University of Culture were put up for exhibition at the university campus in the city Friday.
The paintings were submitted by postgraduate students as part of their first semester assignments. Paintings by a total of 21 students were put up for display and were viewed by students of the institute and faculty members as well as the public.
Retired principal of BK College of Arts Baldeb Maharatha graced the occasion.
The paintings spanned several themes such as women empowerment, female foeticide and other socio-contemporary issues.
A painting that was highly appreciated was that of a girl surrounded by butterflies which had just hatched from their cocoons and were spreading their wings. Another painting that depicted dance forms of Angul was also very well-received.
Oil paintings depicting dance forms of Ganjam district were also appreciated.
