Cuttack: Raghu Mousa, the iconic vendor who made Cuttack’s dahi bara aloo dum famous, passed away at the age of 91. He died Saturday morning at his residence in Bidanasi Gopalsahi after a prolonged illness related to old age.
Raghunath Sasmal, fondly known as Raghu Mousa, had started selling dahi bara aloo dum in 1950 when he was just 15. Over the decades, he played a key role in popularising the dish that has become synonymous with Cuttack’s street food culture.
For generations of food lovers, his signature preparation became a taste to remember. Locals say his absence will be deeply felt, but his legacy will continue through the city’s love for dahi bara aloo dum.
