Bhubaneswar, May 7: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Crime Branch Thursday submitted a proposal to the finance department of the state government for issuance of an ad-interim attachment order against Shirdi Sai Estate Pvt Ltd and properties seized from its directors and others.
The EOW has sought an order under Section 3 of the Orissa Protection of Interest of Depositors (in financial establishments) Act 2011. The proposal includes valuable homestead land of 1.0924 acre at Mouza Kalarahanga and Baramunda worth around Rs 60 lakh, a Ford Endeavour SUV (bearing registration (OR02AM5757) and a Ford Fiesta car (0R024K5057), both worth around Rs 23 lakh.
Laxman Kumar Panda of Janhia in Balasore district had lodged a complaint with EOW April 12, 2013 against the company’s managing director Prakash Chandra Panda accusing Panda of duping investors worth crores of rupees by floating various schemes.
Last year in February, EOW had arrested Panda from Surya Nagar in the city and booked him under Section 465 (forgery), 466 (forgery of public register), 471 (forgery of document), 406 (criminal breach of trust), 420 (cheating), 120(B) (criminal conspiracy) and 34 of IPC and Section 4, 5 and 6 of Prize Chits and Money Circulation Schemes (Banning) Act, 1978 and Section 6 of OPID Act. Panda has been in judicial custody since at Jharpada jail.
