Bhubaneswar, June 7: A restaurateur alleged that former first class cricketer Prabhanjan Mallick went to his house with 20 supporters and forcibly evicted his wife and son.
Himanshu Sekhar Sabat is a tenant of Mallick who runs an eatery near Bhawani Mall here. Sabat said he has been residing on the land for 11 years and pays a rent of Rs 35,000 to Mallick.
“I was in Angul when my wife called me up and said Prabhanjan and his men came and threw our household articles and forcibly evicted them,” Sabat said. He alleged Sahid Nagar police were not registering his complaint and he would approach the court.
Prabhanjan, on the other hand, blamed everything on his estranged wife while calling the whole issue as property dispute. “My separated wife sini Mohanty went to the place and opened the locks for Sabat’s family and resettled them. We want our property vacated but Sini is creating unnecessary hurdles,” Prabhanjan said.
Prabhanjan’s wife Cini Mohanty said, “This is not the way to evict someone. You should send legal notice or approach police to evict your tenant.”
However, no case has been registered with the police so far.
