Cuttack: Former Ranji cricket captain Haladhar Das landed himself in a mess after seven persons sustained injuries as he drove a car in an inebriated condition here Sunday.
Bidanasi police IIC PK Rout told Orissa POST, “Das was heavily drunk while driving a Maruti Suzuki Swift (OD-05-H-7780) Sunday evening.” The former cricketer has been sent to SCB Medical College and Hospital for medical examination, he added.
Police said the incident occurred when Das was on his way to Chahata from Mangalabag on his hatchback car around 5pm. “Since he was driving the car under the influence of alcohol, he lost control over the vehicle and hit several people at four locations,” the police said.
