Faridabad: A police sub-inspector was allegedly duped of Rs 3 lakh by a foreign girl from England who befriended him on social networking site Facebook.
According to the cyber police, the complainant Amit Kumar and the accused woman Shaili Brown became friends on Facebook.
To win his trust, the woman used to chat with him. She also promised to come to India to meet him.
The police SI believed her and transferred Rs 3 lakh to her bank accounts. He soon realised that she had been conned and alerted the police.
The cyber police later came to know that the woman was a mastermind and a regular fraud. A probe has been launched into the incident, police said.
