Rayagada: Indian Railways has initiated the redevelopment of key railway stations in Odisha under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS). Among the major beneficiaries of this initiative is Muniguda Railway Station, which is undergoing a significant transformation to meet global standards of efficiency, sustainability and passenger comfort.
The redevelopment work at Muniguda Station is being undertaken at an estimated cost of Rs 20.16 crore. The project includes improvement of the station’s façade, construction of a wide new foot overbridge, raising and resurfacing of platforms with modern shelters, and installation of coach indication boards and signage.
Other works include the provision of differently abled-friendly facilities, modern toilets with lift access, and a sewage treatment plant with an overhead tank and pipeline connections.

This transformation is also integrating eco-friendly solutions such as solar power systems, water conservation mechanisms and sustainable waste management practices. Redesigned circulating areas with better drop-off and pickup zones, improved access roads and enhanced parking facilities are expected to streamline urban integration.
As part of its passenger-centric approach, the project will deliver high-speed Wi-Fi, digital information boards, upgraded sanitation facilities, improved food and beverage options and state-of-the-art security systems.
