Fake employment racket busted in Koraput, 5 arrested

Sunabeda: A fake employment racket was busted Sunday afternoon by Koraput police in the district and as many as five persons have been arrested in this connection, Sunabeda SDPO Manoj Behera informed at a presser held here later in the day.

Five arrested were identified as Sushil Kumar Chaudhury and Sunil Kumar Chaudhury, both from Rayagada and Sanotsh Kumar Baral, Kamal Mohanty and Abhimanyu Mishra, the three from Bhubaneswar, the SDPO Behera said.

According to the SDPO, Damanjodi police initiated a probe based on an FIR regarding the fake racket. The district police formed three teams led by Sunabeda police station IIC, Damanjodi police station IIC and Similiguda police station IIC for the purpose.

“Three police teams carried out a raid on a hotel in Sunabeda locality Sunday leading to the arrest of five persons. Police have seized a number of incriminating instruments including several fake gate passes, appointment letters (of which 17 have been manipulated in the name of reputed companies), a computer, a laptop, a printer, different forms, stamps, 55 visiting cards, letter heads and cash of Rs 21,000 from the possession of the accused,” Behera stated.

Pretending as mediapersons, the three accused used to receive Rs 30,000 to Rs 40,000 from each job aspirant promising them to provide alluring job in the renowned companies like NALCO, HAL and many others, Behera further said.

The SDPO added saying that illegal activities of the racket came to the fore after some security personnel deployed at Damanjodi plant of NALCO informed local police about it.

The guards contacted police after scrutinising fabricated appointment letters and gate passes of some job seekers who had obtained the fake documents from the five racket members.

Notably, the accused have duped around 70 youths of the district.
