Chandikhole: A farmer died after he was struck by lightning while he was working at his farmland at Chasini Malia slum under Barchana block in Jajpur district Monday.
He was identified as Gourang Mohant. Sources said Mohant had gone to see his farmland which was submerged by rainwater due to incessant rain over the last three days triggered by a low pressure in the Bay of Bengal. Meanwhile, lightning struck him and he fell unconscious.
Family members rescued and rushed him to the local hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. A case of unnatural death was registered and the body was handed over to the family members after autopsy.
