Bangiriposi: A 7-year-old tribal girl has been left in a critical state due to alleged faulty treatment of doctors at the PRM Medical College and Hospital here in Mayurbhanj district.
According to a report, Singha Murmu (7), daughter of Laxman Murmu, of Baribeda, was under treatment for fever at PRM Medical College and Hospital from October 17 to 24.
Her left hand got swollen when she was given saline drips October 19. Later, saline drips were removed. Though the swelling condition of her hand relieved, her hand turned black. As this condition did not improve, a team of doctors referred her to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. The girl was sent to SCB by an ambulance.
After two days of treatment at SCB, doctors told her parents that her hand needs to be amputated for which Rs 40,000 is required.
Laxman being a daily wager could not arrange that much money and brought his daughter home where she has been staring at an uncertain future. Locals demanded assistance from the Chief Minister for the girl’s treatment. PNN
