Film fraternity mourns the demise of veteran actor Dilip Kumar

Mumbai: The Indian film fraternity members such as Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn and Jr NTR among many other mourned the death of veteran Bollywood actor Mohammed Yusuf Khan, known to movie lovers across the world as Dilip Kumar, who passed away in the early hours of Wednesday.

Dilip Kumar had been admitted to the PD Hinduja Hospital June 30 for a variety of age-related health issues. His wife Saira Banu Khan had earlier tweeted about his improving medical condition. But that was a short lived glimmer of hope.

Bachchan paid his tribute to the “institution” on Twitter.

He wrote: “An institution has gone.. whenever the history of Indian Cinema will be written, it shall always be ‘before Dilip Kumar, and after Dilip Kumar’.. My duas for peace of his soul and the strength to the family to bear this loss.. Deeply saddened..”

Lata Mangeshkar also poured her heart out in an emotional note she posted on Twitter.

“Yusuf Bhai has left his little sister. His demise feels like end of an era. I am not able to grasp this news. I am very sad and at a loss of words. He has left her with memories and words (sic),” she wrote.

In a separate tweet, she praised, Dilip Kumar’s wife Saira Banu for taking care of the actor with utter dedication and selflessness. “Yusuf bhai was ill for several years. He was not able to recognise anyone. Saira Banu left everything and devoted herself to him. She had no other life. I pray that his soul rests in peace.”

Actor Akshay Kumar tweeted Monday morning calling Dilip Kumar “The Hero”.

Actor Ajay Devgn went down memory lane and recalled “many moments” shared with the late legend.

Telugu star Jr NTR paid a tribute and said that the veteran thespian will be missed.
