Rourkela: A major fire broke out at a paint manufacturing unit in the Kalunga Industrial Area near Rourkela in Sundaragada district Tuesday, damaging a large quantity of materials and other property.
The blaze reportedly started inside the factory and quickly spread through the premises, sending thick smoke into the surrounding area. Flames were visible from a distance, causing panic among nearby residents and workers.
A large quantity of material stored at the factory was reportedly destroyed in the fire. The loss is estimated to run into several lakhs of rupees, though the exact extent of the damage is yet to be assessed.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
