Rourkela: A huge tragedy was averted following a sudden fire breakout in a computer laboratory of the prestigious National Institute of Technology (NIT), Rourkela, in Sundargarh district Saturday morning.
Fortunately, no injury has been reported in the mishap. While the reason of fire breakout was known immediately, the NIT authorities claimed that fire erupted from an air-conditioner (AC) installed inside the computer lab of the institute due to an electric short circuit.
On being informed, two fire tenders rushed to the spot and managed to douse the flames.
“The fire erupted from an air-conditioner installed inside the laboratory of the institute due to an electrical short circuit. However, the situation has been brought under control now. No major damage was reported in the incident,” said fire officer Dinabandhu Mallick.
