Jaleswar/Begunia: Seven families were rendered homeless in two separate fire mishaps in Baleswar and Khordha districts respectively.
In the first incident Monday night, 12 rooms of five familieswere gutted at Dingar village near Begunia tehsil in Khordha district.
Household articles worth lakhs of rupees were reduced to ashes.
While the exact reason for the accident was yet to be ascertained, short circuit could be the factor, reports said.
In the second incident Tuesday, two houses were reduced to ashes at Jhadapimpal (2) village in Baleswar district Tuesday morning.
The gutted houses belonged to two brothers, Bijay Giri and Sujay Giri.
According to reports, an electric wire passing over their houses could be the reason for the mishap.
A fire engine from Baliapal station reached the spot and doused the fire.
