Fire safety notice to 24 hotels, hosps, malls

Puri: The state Fire Services department Thursday issued notices to 23 hotels, hospitals and other establishments in the Holy city and one in Satyabadi area for not adopting adequate fire safety measures.
Among the establishments which were put on notice are 12 hotels, five hospitals, three shopping malls and four apartments. In these notices, the Fire Services department has mentioned about the fire safety lapses in these establishments and directed the owners of the establishments to take necessary measures.
The department has set two months’ deadline for the owners of the establishments to improve the fire safety mechanism. In case the building owners failed to adopt the mechanism within the stipulated time, action will be taken against them according to Orissa fire prevention and fire safety rules of 2017, the notices read.
It may be recalled that the fire safety inspection was conducted at 23 establishments in the Pilgrim city and one in Satyabadi January 31. Twelve teams each comprising 12 personnel had carried out the inspections and found that not a single establishment has adopted the fire safety measure properly.
The establishments on which notices were served are Ananya Pride Resort, Hotel Holiday Resorts, The Hans Coco Palms, Royal Heritage, Hotel Bangalaxmi, Toshali Sand Resort Ltd, Hotel Empires, Hotel Mayfair, The Chariot Resort, Puri Hotel, Hotel Blue Lily, Hotel Golden Palace, Bazaar Kolkata, Guru Empire, Vishal Shopping Mall, Jena Apartment, Shanti Apartment, Tulasi Apartment, Sri Palace, E-24 Hospital, Sri Krushna Health Care, Sanjeevani Hospital and Saradha Nursing Home in the city and Gopinath hospital in Satyabadi area.
