Bantala: An elephant calf was found dead in Judumu reserve forest under Jilinda range of Satkosia sanctuary in Angul district Friday.
A team of forest officials including Jilinda ranger Harish Pradhan, ACF RK Swain, Satkosia veterinary surgeon Dr Kishore Kumar Sahu, veterinary doctor of Narasinghpur Kamaladih Dr Durgaprasad Hota and forester Ghanshayam Nayak rush to the spot and took stock of the situation.
They seized the carcass and got its post mortem. The male calf was believed to be around four years old. It had two tusks. They came to know that it died from infection.
