Bhubaneswar: In a major initiative to strengthen road safety awareness in state, Tab-Lab centres will be set up at five Regional Transport Offices (RTOs) across the state following a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the State Transport Authority (STA) and Bharat Cares.
The centres will come up at Bhubaneswar, Kataka, Puri, Kendujhar and Anugola RTOs, where applicants for Learner’s Licenses (LL) and Driving Licences (DL) will receive digital road safety education. As part of the initiative, applicants and candidates appearing for driving tests will undergo a structured, tablet-based road safety learning programme.
The modules will include interactive educational content, videos, assessments and counselling sessions aimed at improving awareness about traffic rules, safe driving practices and responsible road behaviour.
The key development following the MoU will be the establishment of these five digital learning centres, making road safety education an integral part of the driving licence application and testing process. In addition, a pilot road safety awareness programme is planned in 30 educational institutions in Bhubaneswar to educate students and encourage responsible road-user behaviour from an early age.
The initiative is expected to strengthen road safety education through digital platforms and create greater awareness among prospective drivers, students and other road users across the state.
