Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said Saturday that his government will build a prosperous and developed state following the ideals of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
Addressing a function organised here to celebrate Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, marking the birth anniversary of the country’s first home minister, Majhi said Patel laid the foundation for a vast and powerful India by uniting over 560 small and large princely states, driven by his extraordinary political foresight, firm willpower, and pragmatic leadership.
“The day is not merely an occasion for Patel’s birth anniversary celebration; rather, it serves as a symbol of our collective resolve, patriotism, and commitment toward national integrity,” he said.
Praising the dedication, hard work, and competence of the Odisha Police force, the chief minister said the state became Maoist-free due to the government’s firm measures and the police’s sustained operations.
He said the atmosphere of fear and terror that once made people afraid to travel even during the day no longer exists in the state.
Majhi further said that a new chapter of industrialisation has begun in the state over the last two years, with industrialists from both within the country and abroad investing in Odisha.
Emphasising that peace, security, and a robust law-and-order situation are essential for industry and business growth, he noted that a peaceful and conducive environment has been maintained in the state and appreciated the sincere efforts of the Odisha police.
He called upon everyone to transcend the boundaries of caste, religion, creed, or language and embrace their identity as Indians and Odias first, and to take a pledge to build a ‘prosperous and developed Odisha.’
The CM also participated virtually in the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas parade held at Ekta Nagar in Gujarat, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi was the chief guest.
