Angul: A guest house near the local railway station has turned into a hub of flesh trade after a fall in number of visitors, according to a report.
On a tip-off, police Wednesday conducted raids on Maa Tarini Guest House and caught three couples in compromising positions.
The youths were identified as Santosh Mohapatra (25) of Hulurisingha, Biswanath Giri (22) of Talcher and Milan Pradhan (19) of Chhendipada.
The girls, aged between 20 and 25, were brought from outside to be used in the profession, it was learnt.
Police also detained Pinaki Shankar Sahoo, the owner of the lodge, on the charge of renting out rooms for immoral activities.
The complex was being used for sex trade for a long time and its owner charged Rs 1,000 for renting a room for an hour, Angul IIC Subas Sahoo said. A police team led by senior officials raided the guest house and caught the couples from separate rooms in compromising state.
Several objectionable materials were also seized. Police registered a case and produced the accused in court. Further action would be taken after medical examination of the girls, Sahoo added.
According to sources, the guest house was earlier being rented out to visitors only. But, later it was used for sex trade after gradual fall in business.
The guest house was a big draw among college boys who used to ‘spend’ time with their girl mates by paying Rs 1,000 an hour.
However, the guest house management charged Rs 5,000 in the event of arranging girls for customers and this had been a regular practice. Customers were not asked for their identity proof for smooth run of the business, it was learnt.
Running the racket became easy as the location was far from the hustle-bustle of the town, a staffer of the guest house said under the condition of anonymity.
A sex racket was busted at a hotel in Maitree Nagar of the town in December 2015 and two couples were caught. PNN
