Bhubaneswar, Jan 31: An IndiGo flight from Bangalore to Kolkata (6E 422) made an emergency landing at Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) after a septuagenarian complained of chest pain and hypertension.
The flight which took off at 12.25 pm from Bangalore was scheduled to land at Kolkata airport at 2.55 pm. Meanwhile, the pilot sought permission from the city airport’s air traffic control (ATC) tower for an emergency landing at around 2.10 pm when he was informed about the seriously-ill passenger. The flight landed at BPIA
at 2.20 pm.
The passenger was identified as 76 year-old Jagamohan who was travelling with his wife. On being alerted, airport officials swung into action and pressed its medical emergency team into service. An ambulance was sent to the operational area from where the passenger was rushed to a private hospital.
