Fog in New Delhi hits flights, train services

Bhubaneswar, Dec 28: Several Bhubaneswar-bound flights and trains from New Delhi were delayed Sunday because of the heavy fog in the national capital, resulting in passengers being stranded at the city airport and railway stations and causing extreme hardships to commuters many of whom were forced to alter their travel plans.

The dense fog that engulfed New Delhi forced low-cost carrier IndiGo to cancel its 6E 341 New Delhi-Bhubaneswar flight, while other services on the same route were delayed by several hours.
Flyers had to wait for more than five hours as IndiGo’s 6E 253 New Delhi-Bhubaneswar flight landed at the Biju Patnaik Internationoal Airport at 2.15 pm instead of the scheduled time of 9 am. The flight took off for Delhi at 2.45 pm.
Another IndiGo flight, 6E 259 New Delhi-Bhubaneswar, got delayed by more than two hours. It landed at the city airport at 8.30 pm instead of the scheduled time of 6.25 pm Sunday.
Air India’s AI 878 Bhubaneswar-New Delhi flight got delayed by four hours. It took off for Delhi at 1.40 pm instead of the scheduled departure time of 9.40 am. The early morning Delhi-bound flight is one of the busiest.
GoAir’s G8-161 New Delhi-Bhubaneswar flight landed at the city airport at 11.20 am instead of the scheduled arrival time of 8.15 am. Another Bhubaneswar bound flight from New Delhi, G8-163 arrived at city airport at 7.52 pm instead of the scheduled time of 6.55 pm. GoAir’s Kolkata-Bhubaneswar flight was also delayed by two hours.
At the city railway station, thousands of passengers had to wait for several hours to catch their trains. Among the premium trains, the New Delhi-Bhubaneswar Rajdhani got delayed by more than 15 hours.
The train is now expected to reach Bhubaneswar at 8.20 am Monday instead of the scheduled arrival time of 5.30 pm Sunday.
The Bhubaneswar-New Delhi Rajdhani service left the city at 2 pm instead of 11.20 am.
