Nabarangpur: Former Odisha minister and veteran politician Dambaru Majhi (86) passed away Sunday morning at around 5 AM while undergoing treatment at the District Headquarters Hospital in Nabarangpur.
Majhi remained a politician in Nabarangpur for many decades and had been elected to the Odisha Assembly from Dabugaon constituency in 1967, 1971 and 1985 and from Kodinga constituency in 1977 and 1980.
He had also been a minister in the state Cabinet serving under several ministries such as Agriculture and Cooperation, Works and Transport, Irrigation and Energy.
His long political career made him a significant figure in the politics of the undivided Nabarangpur region.
His death has triggered an outpouring of grief across political circles, with leaders and supporters mourning the veteran politician’s demise.
