Boinda: The former MLA of Athamallik Rajkishore Pradhan was found dead near a railway track here. He was 80.
Pradhan left his house Sunday afternoon and when he didn’t return, his family members searched for him.
Pradhan was living with his elder son at his Angul residence.
Local residents, who found the body of Pradhan near the track Monday morning, immediately rushed him to Angul district hospital. The doctors declared him received dead.
According to reports, he fell from a train after losing his balance at Balaramprasad near Banarpal while travelling to Puri.
He was an Utkal Congress legislator from Athamallik during 1971-1973 when Biju Patnaik was the Chief Minister.
A pall of gloom descended on his village Paika Sahi and the outskirts of Athamallik.
Athamallik MLA Sanjeeb Sahoo and BJP district president Bhagirathy Pradhan mourned his demise.
