Bhubaneswar: The Golden Jubilee of Unit-IX Girl’s high school was celebrated here Friday. Orissa Governor Dr SC Jamir, MSME Minister Prafulla Samal and head of Human Rights in Orissa Birakishore Misra were the guests of the function. Addressing the students Dr Jamir said, “Education is the vital in order to evolve as a good human being and a teacher or guru is the guiding light for every student. Also it’s a great opportunity to thank all the parents who believe in educating their girls”.
Addressing the function Prafulla Samal said, “A teacher is the appropriate medium of knowledge and foundation created in early days of school helps in achieving greater heights of success in later life”.
The programme was inaugurated with release of pigeons. A colorful cultural dance and music recital followed the inaugural function.
Students who had passed out of the school earlier walked the ramp at a fashion show held on the occasion.
Besides, teachers who had been associated with the school from its beginning were honored with Guru Shri award in recognition of their services.
A special presentation by old-student association’s 1986 batch, who were dressed-up in their old school uniform and performed the morning prayer on the dais was extremely well received by all.
All student achievers were felicitated on the occasion. Teachers took an oath to make the girls high school one of the best in the city.
The event was compered by Guddi and old student association.
Principal of the school Prabhamayi Nanda, president of Golden-jubilee Subhashree Das, vice-president Sabita Routray, general secretary Babita Mohanty, asst secretary Chumki Ghosal, treasurer Amiyabala and Joint treasurer Puspita Mishra were also present on the occasion. (PNN)
