Bolangir: Larambha police Thursday arrested four men in connection with a murder of a couple that took place in Chikitamal village under Khaprakhol block in Bolangir district September 16.
According to Bolangir police SP Madkar Sandeep Sampat, all four were produced in court Thursday. One more man wanted in this case is on the run. The accused men have confessed to the crime, the SP added.
The arrested have been identified as Narayana Bariha (23), Swarupa Ghibhela (40), Gouranga Podh (25) and Krushna Bariha (60).
The accused men killed the couple Chintamani Bariha and Rukmini Bariha for allegedly practicing sorcery that had led to the death of a minor few years back apart from causing various other harms to the villagers.
The bodies of the victims were found packed in a sack at a forest near Chitikmal village September 16.
It may be mentioned here that Chintamani had earlier lodged a complaint with Larambha police alleging that he was being abused and beaten up by villagers over allegations of witchcraft.
