Malkangiri, Nov 23: District police personnel arrested four ultras during a joint combing operation by a Special Operations Group (SOG) and DVF jawans Sunday.
The arrested ultras were identified as Ramnath Madkami, Jaga Marhi, Waga Padiami and Soma Madkami of Kurubo village under Badigeta panchayat. Superintendent of police Mitrabhanu Mohapatra produced the ultras before the media at the district police headquarters during a press meet Monday.
According to official sources, Ramnath was an active member of the Kalimela Dalam of the Maoists since 2006 and was involved in the Tenta Marhi killing of Techguda Colony and several extortion cases of MV-72, Bhejangiwada and Manyabkonda areas.
Similarly, Jaga Marhi was associated with the Maoist outfit from 2005 and was involved in the Deba Padiami-Ganga Padiami murder case, blasting an army vehicle and other cases of loot. Waga was actively taking part in Maoist activities from 2008 to 2012 and was involved in the Penta Marhi murder case of Techguda and Somnath Madkami killing of Kalimela. Soma was working as an ultra since 2005 and was involved in several cases of violence and extortion.
All ultras would soon be produced in court, the SP said.
