post news network, Bhubaneswar, April 29: The Rajyapuraskar Utsav organised by the Odisha State Bharat Scouts and Guides was held at Raj Bhawan here Wednesday.
Appreciating the works of Bharat Scouts and Guides, Governor SC Jamir said, “The spirit of harmony and tolerance has been the hallmark of India and all should strive to uphold these values. The nation needs the contribution of every individual to strengthen the social fabric of the nation. The scout and guide movement is providing the youth with the physical, mental, intellectual and moral values to face the challenges of life ahead.”
Exhorting the scout and guide instructors to be creative, innovative and dedicated, Jamir said that they should inculcate ethical thinking and analytical skills in children. “They should be trained in the possible best way so that they may face any challenges in life and emerge successful,” he said.
Bishnu Charan Das, president Odisha State Bharat Scouts and Guides, and Manoranjan Mohanty, vice president of Bharat Scouts and Guide also spoke on the occasion.
Freedom fighter Sukadeba Nayak was conferred with the Utkal Jyoti samman on the occasion where collector and DM of Khorda, Niranjan Sahoo, chief personnel officer of the East Coast Railway, Manju Ray and Dr Manoj Kumar Sahu of SUM hospital were also felicitated. Rajyapuraskar certificates were given to cubs, scouts, rovers, bulbuls, guides and rangers by the Governor.
Later in a cultural show performed by the young scouts and guides in which they showed the vivid culture of India mesmerised everyone.
