Fresh parking restrictions enforced in Bhubaneswar, check details here

Bhubaneswar: In a bid to contain illegal parking and ensure free flow of vehicular traffic, the commissionerate police Tuesday issued an advisory pertaining to new parking restrictions applicable in Bhubaneswar.

According to traffic DCP Sagarika Nath, vehicles of parking rule violators would be taken away in flatbed cranes and the vehicle owners would need to pay hefty fines to get their vehicles released.

In the first phase, the new guidelines will be enforced on stretches between Rajbhawan Square to Kalarahanga Square , Airport to NALCO Square , Sishu Bhawan Square to Vani Vihar, Rasulgarh Square to Jaydev Vihar, Sriya Square to PHD office and Bapuji Nagar. Vehicle owners have been asked to not park on the road in these stretches.

“Any violation of the order is an offence and punishable under section- 177 of the MV Act – 2019 and compoundable with fine of Rs. 500,” Traffic DCP Sagarika Nath said.

Nath further added that two-wheeler riders parking illegally will need to pay a fine of Rs 500 along with flatbed crane transportation charge of Rs 300. For vehicles with four wheels and higher, the violators would need to pay a fine of Rs 500 along with flatbed crane transportation charge of Rs 700.

A private company has been engaged to provide the cranes and employees for towing the vehicles. As many as 41 vehicles were towed away in flatbed cranes on the first day of the imposition of the new rule.
