Four-year-old Samarth Rohtan, who is taking the fashion world by storm, has recently signed a Hollywood project

When we talk about the talents of kids, a few wonderful performances in advertisements readily come to mind. Four-year-old Samarth, who is taking the fashion world by storm, is a case in point.

Samarth Rohtan, fondly known as Sam who was born in Delhi, stepped into the fashion world in March 2016, when his parents received compliments from their friends and acquaintances who encouraged them to groom Samarth for the fashion world. Orissa POST speaks to Samarth and his father, Vishal, about the child prodigy’s achievements in modelling and acting.

“Till now I have only worked with apparel brands and have done fashion shows. But I also love acting and Hindi Medium gave me that chance, in which I have played the character of Mukul, Dishita’s friend (lead child artiste),” Samarth said.

Hindi Medium didn’t fall on Samarth’s lap, with the child artiste having to go through many rounds of auditions and a weeklong workshop before he was selected for the role of Mukul in the film.

“It was not easy to step into the fashion world as I had to send my portfolio to different places; one day I got a call from an apparel brand called ‘Tippy’ to be their model. I was really excited and after that there was no looking back as I received some good offers and also got a chance to walk the ramp.”

Sam, who is just four years old but has big dreams, wishes to rule Mumbai filmdom, said Vishal.

At a tender age Samarth seems to have unlocked the answer that most adults grapple with – his aim in life. He wants to be an actor. With parents who are more than happy to support his dreams – be it acting or some other interest – Samarth is keen to pursue his modelling dreams.

“He is just four but has bigger dreams. One day he told me that he wants to rule the film industry. We don’t have any problem if he wants to be an actor, if he is happy with that, we are also happy with his decision,” chirps Vishal.

“My parents and teachers have been supportive all through. My parents make sure that I strike a perfect balance between studies and other commitments. My mother, a dancer, teaches me dance, while my father helps me with studies. My teachers help me to grasp the lessons taught in class, which I often miss due to shooting. I really feel blessed for all the support and love I receive,” added Samarth.

Acting apart, the kindergarten student loves dancing and cricket.

“We make sure that Sam doesn’t miss school too much because of shooting. We are very selective about the auditions he attends. If he has something important going on in school we do not encourage her to miss school. If something important comes his way we inform his teachers and take their permission before applying for leave, if required,” added Sam’s father.

Samarth, son of Vishal, a musician, and Suman, a homemaker, is a great fan of Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone. Asked about his favourite food, Samarth said paneer related items are his favourites.

The little wonder has recently signed a Hollywood project for which shooting will start from December. He will be seen sharing screen space with Bengali beauty Bipasha Basu and Josh Hartnett.
