Cuttack: A case was filed in the Orissa High Court (HC) here Thursday alleging that three women were gang-raped and two of them were murdered by some police personnel posted at the Bheden police station of Bargarh district in 2016.
The petitioner, who is the survivor of the incident, filed the case alleging that policemen murdered the two women and her husband who later filed a complaint in this regard.
The Chief Secretary, Home Secretary, Director General of Police (DGP), Bargarh Collector and Bheden inspector-in-charge were made respondents in the case.
The petitioner said the police picked up her and two other women from their houses in Rupapali village and detained them September 23, 2016 in connection with a clash with another group of the village.
Instead of taking them to the police station, the cops took them to the nearby forest and gang-raped them. Later, police handed them over to the opponents of the women who also raped them, the petitioner said.
The petitioner said that though she managed to escape, two others failed to do so. After coming out of shock she revealed the matter to her mother-in-law following which a search was carried out by the family but there was no trace of the missing duo. Later, it was learnt that the duo had been hacked to death after the rape.
The petition said the survivor’s husband Ganeshwar Mallick had informed the matter to the Home Secretary, Collector, DGP and Bargarh SP May 7, 2016.
Ganeshwar was also attacked by the rival group while returning from the panchayat office along with his friend Khireshwar Bhua July 19, 2016.
Police took the duo to the police station from where Khireshwar was taken to hospital due to injuries suffered in the attack. But Ganeshwar went missing after the incident.
The petitioner alleged that the rival group had also murdered her husband and that the police are involved in both the incidents and shielding the culprits. He said the bodies were destroyed to wipe out evidence.
The petitioner urged the HC to order an impartial probe into both the incidents.
