According to them, Ganjam has recorded the installation of 16,418 rooftop solar projects, followed by Baleswar with 16,407 installations, Khordha with 14,603 units, Kataka with 13,758 units and Mayurbhanj with 9,751 units.
People have shown much interest in availing benefits under the scheme, said Ganjam District Collector Keerthi Vasan V.
“We hope to achieve the goal of adding another 25,000 rooftop solar systems by the end of March 2027 as a part of continued efforts towards a sustainable and green future,” he said.
A senior government officer said the milestone reflects the growing acceptance of solar energy among households and the increasing shift towards sustainable power generation.
TP Southern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPSODL), the implementing agency, said the distribution company’s grassroots outreach and utility-led aggregation model facilitated greater access to rooftop solar panels across eight southern Odisha districts.
Amit Kumar Garg, the chief executive officer of TPSODL, said the discom was carrying out door-to-door campaigns encouraging people to adopt rooftop solar panels.
