Gunupur: Even as it has been over a week since Niroj Mishra, a student of Gandhi Institute of Engineering and Technology (GIET) Autonomous College here ended his life under suspicious condition, the reason behind his suicide is yet to be unraveled.
A resident under Bijipur police limits in Bihar, Niroj, a fourth year student of Civil Engineering department of the college, was staying in a rented house at Tulasi Nagar along with a college mate.
Questions were raised in social media as to why the police didn’t investigate the matter to bring the truth to the light.
While Niroj’s brother Debashis said the former was under stress for reasons, locals demanded an immediate probe into the death of the student. Expressing resentment at the indifference of police, a section of students sought to know the person/persons responsible for the incident.
According to reports, Niroj’s roommate went to the college to appear for a semester paper December 27. However, he found the door locked from inside when he returned to the room. Left with no option, he broke the door only to find Niroj’s lifeless body hanging from the ceiling fan.
The post-mortem of the body was conducted December 29 after the arrival of his family members. Police have registered a case of unnatural death. PNN
