Bhubaneswar: A second year engineering student Thursday lodged a complaint with Chandrasekharpur police station alleging harassment by a student of her institute here.
According to the complainant, Vishal Barik (19), also a second year student of her institute has been proclaiming his one-sided love for her. When she did not accept his proposal positively, the boy beat her up and reportedly threatened to throw acid on her if she tried to complain to the college authorities or police.
The girl then informed her parents about the harassment. Consequently, the parents told the police that the boy had been threatening her for over a year.
“He has assaulted her physically and threatened to kill her in an engineered accident or an acid attack,” said the victim’s sister.
Chandrasekharpur police have registered a case under sections 354, 506, 323, 294 and 34 of IPC.
