Keonjhar: Day after the students of Ananya ladies’ hostel staged a demonstration over drinking water problems, a similar protest by boys has become a headache for Dharanidhar University administration. Inmates of Gopabandhu Hostel of the university in Keonjhar have protested in front of the main gate for a long time for the fulfilment of their long-time demands.
They said that due to non-availability of clean drinking water and unhygienic environment in the hostel, they are facing problems. The students have complained that only two toilets are functional when there are around 2,000 students living in the hostel. During rainy days, water leaks from the roof into the room due to a lack of maintenance.
“We will continue protesting until these problems are not solved immediately,” they said.
“Efforts will be made to solve this problem immediately,” the university officials said.
Narendra Sahu, Registrar of DDU said, “Money has already been deposited with the Public Works department. But they are delaying to execute the maintenance work.”
