New Delhi: The government on Friday announced the National Teachers’ Awards 2026 for 48 teachers in recognition of their contribution to school education and literacy.
The awardees, listed by the Department of School Education and Literacy, include teachers from states and Union Territories as well as institutions such as the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, Sainik Schools, Adarsha Tribal School, and PM SHRI schools, among others.
Among those selected are J Prakash Rao from Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Rajesh Kouluri from Andhra Pradesh, Yaku Tame from Arunachal Pradesh, Rajesh Bordoloi from Assam, Suman Goel from Delhi and Zafar Alam from Eklavya Model Residential Schools under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs.
Other awardees include Mahadev Hanamant Shinde from Goa, Nitin Kumar Mahendrakumar Pathak from Gujarat, Anil Kaushik from Haryana, Manjari V Mahajan from Himachal Pradesh, Mohd Ayaz Raina from Jammu and Kashmir and Archana Shukla from Madhya Pradesh.
The list also includes teachers from Maharashtra, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Odisha, Punjab, Rajasthan, Sikkim, and Ladakh, among other regions.
According to the ministry, the National Teachers’ Awards seek to celebrate the unique contribution of some of the finest teachers in the country and to honour those who, through their commitment and dedication, have not only improved the quality of school education but also enriched the lives of their students.
